About conference

A one-day professional conference focused on current topics in the field of business valuation, organized by the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE). The conference is primarily intended for valuation experts, consultants and financing providers, as well as for alumni and Corporate Finance students. The primary goal of the conference is to connect the business with academia and policy makers. The long-term goal is to improve the quality of Corporate Finance education at VŠE.

This year’s conference will be graced by distinguished board members of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC). The IVSC is responsible for developing the International Valuation Standards (IVS), which are used in over 100 countries to support consistency, comparability and transparency to valuations of all assets and liabilities. The Prague University of Economics and Business is the only academic member of the International Valuation Standards Council from the Czech Republic.

Alexander Aronsohn
Alexander Aronsohn

Director of Technical Standards, Tangible Assets Board, IVSC

Alexander Aronsohn FRICS is a chartered surveyor with long and wide ranging experience encompassing residential asset management, commercial and residential development, rating, national and international valuation and investment. He has worked as a property professional for over twenty years in a number of different specialisms, including at DTZ where he became an associate director in both their international valuation and international investment teams, focussing on cross border portfolio valuation and investment. He has also run his own consultancy firm which provided international valuation and investment advice to a number of high profile clients and surveying firms.

Alexander joined the IVSC as Director of Technical Standards (Tangible Assets) in 2019. Prior to this he was Director of Technical Standards at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), where he also sat on various valuation boards and working groups.

Petr Dvořák
Petr Dvořák

Rector of VŠE

He is a Czech economist and university lecturer who has served as the Rector of the Prague University of Economics and Business since 2022. He specializes in commercial banking and financial derivatives. He is the author or co-author of ten monographs and textbooks, approximately thirty articles published in Czech and international academic journals, and thirteen research studies.
He is a member of the Appellate Committee of the Czech National Bank and the Scientific Council of the Czech Banking Association. He also serves on various academic boards, including the Scientific Board of the Prague University of Economics and Business and the Faculty of National Economy at the University of Economics in Bratislava. Additionally, he is a member of the editorial board of the journal Banking.

Since 2010, Stefan has held the position of Director of Property Management at CTP, where he is responsible for the operation and sustainability of the company’s existing portfolio across the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and the Netherlands, comprising a total lettable area of 5.1 million square meters.
Prior to joining CTP, he served as a property management consultant at the Dutch real estate company Woonlinie.
Stefan is a board member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in the Czech Republic. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture from MTS in Den Bosch and further specialized in Real Estate Management at The Hague University.

Nicolas Konialidis
Nicolas Konialidis

Asia Director and Technical Director, Business Valuation Board, IVSC

Nicholas brings three decades of capital markets, corporate finance and valuation experience and will lead the IVSC’s growth across the region, with a focus on business valuation and intangibles.  In his role as IVSC Asia Director, Nicolas leads IVSC’s market outreach and engagement with member and sponsor organisations, as well governments and regulatory entities across Asia.
Nicolas was previously the Managing Director (Valuations) at EverEdge Global, a consultancy specializing in intangible assets.
Nicolas is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Valuer and Appraiser (CVA). He is an Associate Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA).

Tomáš Krabec

He graduated from the University of Economics in Prague in 2005. He subsequently completed postgraduate studies in Accounting and Corporate Financial Management in 2008 and earned his habilitation (Associate Professorship) in Business Economics and Management in 2011.
He serves as a court-appointed expert with a specialization in the valuation of businesses and securities. His expertise includes the preparation of expert opinions for review, arbitration, and reconciliation purposes in the field of economics, with a particular focus on economic expert analyses and the valuation of medical practices, healthcare enterprises, and related projects.
His research interests are centered on asset valuation methodology, business valuation theory, valuation standardization, international institutional comparative studies, law and economics, and behavioral finance.

James Moulton
James Moulton

Business Valuation Board, IVSC

He is a member of the CA ANZ Business Valuation Committee with over 12 years of experience in valuations and forensic accounting, gained through roles across Australia and South Korea. Also experience in complex cross-border valuations, dispute resolution, and data analytics.
He has a strong interest in how Data & Analytics and Generative AI are transforming the way we deliver insights—enhancing both their depth and quality, while enabling us to focus more on high-value strategic work.
He is particularly enthusiastic about the ongoing evolution of FinTech, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Cloud Computing, and welcomes opportunities to connect with professionals who share these interests.

Jiří Pelák
Jiří Pelák

Director of the Department of Accounting, Valuation, and Related Professional Fields
Ministery of Finance

Jiří Pelák is a lecturer at the Department of Financial Accounting at the Prague University of Economics and Business and has long been active in the field of audit and financial reporting. Since 2016, he has served as Vice President of the Chamber of Auditors of the Czech Republic. His professional focus includes international financial reporting (IFRS, IPSAS), business combinations, corporate transformations, and the interpretation of accounting regulations.
He has contributed to numerous expert publications and translations, including the Czech editions of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). Within the Chamber of Auditors, he serves as an examiner, Chair of the External Relations Committee, and a member of the editorial boards of Auditor magazine and the committee for translating international auditing standards.
He gained international experience through academic stays at Copenhagen Business School and St. Mark’s International College in Sydney. He is an ACCA-certified IFRS trainer and a member of the European Accounting Association (EAA).

Barbora Rýdlová
Barbora Rýdlová

Head of the Department of Business Valuation, VŠE

Barbora focuses her teaching on business valuation and corporate finance and serves as the course leader for Corporate Finance in the international master’s program MIFA.
Barbora is the Academic Director of the MBA program Real Estate and Valuation, which she co-founded with colleagues at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at the University of Economics, Prague. The program has received international professional accreditation from RICS and has attracted significant interest from stakeholders in the real estate market.
She is a certified expert in the valuation of businesses, securities, and intangible assets. From 2010 to 2020, she was a member of the advisory board of experts for business and movable property valuation at the Regional Court in Prague. In 2021, she was appointed to the advisory board at the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic, where she also reviews and comments on draft legislation. Additionally, she performs oversight activities for the Public Oversight Board for Auditing.

Doug Summa
Doug Summa

Vice Chair, Financial Instruments Board, IVSC

Doug Summa is a former PwC Partner with over thirty-five years of experience advising clients on a spectrum of risk management and capital measurement issues related to trading activities. Mr. Summa has assisted numerous global financial institutions with the development of risk management frameworks and in the successful implementation and execution of a best-practices approach to management and measurement of market, credit and operational risk. He has extensive knowledge of the capital markets, cash and derivative products and related trading strategies. Mr. Summa’s clients have included a broad range of financial services companies including global and regional banks, insurance companies, mutual and hedge funds. He has advised clients on risk measurement and management techniques for market and credit risk, limit setting, valuation, risk and capital models, capital attribution and performance evaluation. He received his MBA and BA from Columbia University and is a board member of the International Association of Quantitative Finance.

Nick Talbot
Nick Talbot

Chief Executive Officer, IVSC

Nick worked in various senior client facing and internal roles at EY and KPMG between 1998 and 2011. Appointed CEO by the IVSC Board in 2016. Since joining the IVSC, Nick has overseen the introduction of technical standards boards for all valuation asset classes. Nick has placed a strong focus on the adoption of IVS which has seen its use increase significantly throughout the world over recent years. He has led efforts to foster and enhance partnerships and collaboration with governments, leading financial and market regulators and other global standards setters. Nick has also overseen a strong growth in the IVSC’s member network, which has almost doubled since 2015 and now includes prominent organisations in all regions of the world.
